CMFJ authorizes 2 Swiss land-based casinos to offer online gambling
Since January 2019, the new Swiss gambling legislation inspired some land-based casinos to develop their own services in the developing iGaming market. Every year, the community of online players continues to grow, and the establishment of new laws that allow land-based casinos to offer digital versions of its services will spur this growth.
On November 20, 2019, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board added two new legal online operators of very popular casinos to its list: the Grand Casino Kursaal Berne AG and the Casino Interlaken AG.
Countdown to StarVegas – the next operator for Interlaken Casino
Interlaken Casino set up a countdown clock on the StarVegas site, which aroused the curiosity of online gambling fans. Viewers were very intrigued by this promotional method. Interlaken also promoted its future operator, Beatomatic Online Entertainment, a renowned subsidiary licensed in Malta.
So far, StarVegas is only accessible in Spain and Italy. The success of which will undoubtedly be reinforced with the Swiss version of the platform. Will these services be identical with regard to game catalogues and service quality? Stay tuned at CasinoNews as we follow the latest developments for the launch of this new Swiss online casino.
Grand Casino Kursaal carefully plans its arrival in the iGaming market
Grand Casino Kursaal has been much more discreet about the plans for its future site compared to its competitor. They have so far confirmed that online operation will be managed by Casino Austria International, a particularly renowned subsidiary in the iGaming field. Unsubstantiated but highly probable news is the selection of Betway as the designer for the online casino to create a site that meets the needs of players. Having one of the greatest specialists in the sports betting market suggests that there will be a great variety of games and services. We should learn new information about this operator in the next few weeks. Stay tuned!
CFMJ’s announcement precedes 4 other authorizations
Prior to this recent CFMJ announcement, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board granted the approval of 4 other online casinos in June 2019. That makes a total of 6 platforms that are recognized by the gambling authorities in the “land of chocolate.” Although CFMJ’s list of approved operators may seem very limited, it guarantees the best possible online experience for gambling fans without losing the supervisory capacities which reassures players.
Reminder: Switzerland has a total of 21 land-based casinos. So it is entirely possible that CMFJ will authorize more operators in 2020. iGaming is becoming a smart and fruitful alternative for these establishments, so the entrance into the online market by some companies like Groupe Partouche is to be expected.
Swiss gambling news will continue to excite. And CasinosNews will stay on top of the latest news and trends to share with you what we learn in real-time!
What about the CFMJ and Comlot blacklist?
CFMJ and Comlot regularly exclude questionable operators by placing them on a “blacklist.” However, the Swiss Federal Gaming Board’s most recent announcement didn’t mention any new additions to the ban list in Switzerland. Is this a matter of timing or is the Federal Gaming Board working with lighter restrictions? No official announcement has been made to support a suitable answer.
So far, the latest updates are from mid-October, when the Swiss Lottery and Gambling Board banned numerous sites.
